Terms of Service
The rules for using Serifu and serifu.net.
These terms apply to the Serifu desktop app and serifu.net (together, "Serifu"), operated by Peter, an individual ("we"). Contact: support@serifu.net. By creating an account or using Serifu you agree to them.
What Serifu does
Serifu is a tool that translates manga pages you provide and lets you edit the result. Text detection runs on your computer; reading, translation and image cleaning run on our servers and on the AI providers listed in the Privacy Policy.
Content you translate
- Only translate material you own or have the right to translate, for example a book you bought, for your own use.
- Do not use Serifu to make or distribute unauthorized translations or copies of other people's work.
- You are responsible for the content you process and for how you use the output.
- We do not host, sell or share the pages you translate.
- You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy, which lists prohibited content (sexual, violent, hateful, child-endangering, deepfake and infringing content), how we check pages, how to report abuse to abuse@serifu.net, and what happens when the rules are broken.
Accounts
Keep your sign-in details safe. Computers linked through desktop sign-in act on your account and use your credits; remove any you do not recognise from your dashboard. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
Credits and payment
- 1 credit translates 1 page. Redrawing text drawn on artwork costs 1 credit per area. Credits do not expire.
- Credits are reserved when a page or redraw starts and are returned automatically if it fails.
- Credit packs are sold by Waffo as merchant of record, which handles payment, taxes and receipts.
- Refunds: within 14 days of buying a credit pack, you can get a full refund if none of its credits have been used. Email support@serifu.net with your order number. Once you start using a pack's credits, you agree that the service begins right away and that pack is no longer refundable, as EU consumer law allows for digital services. If a purchase is refunded, its credits are removed from your balance.
- Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred.
AI output
Translations and cleaned images are produced by machine-learning models. They can be wrong or incomplete. Review the output before relying on it.
The desktop app
The desktop app is based on Koharu, open-source software under the MIT or Apache-2.0 license; see Licenses & credits. Your use of Serifu's own parts is covered by these terms.
Availability and liability
We aim to keep Serifu running but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Serifu is provided "as is", and our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the European Union and of the EU member state where the operator is established. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there. The EU Online Dispute Resolution platform is available at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will tell you by email or in the app before it applies.
