Webtoon translator example
Unedited output, as the webtoon translator returns it: a page of a Korean webtoon, its caption boxes and balloons lettered in English. The webtoon translator reads the Hangul in every balloon, caption and sound effect, translates the page with what it has read so far, and sets the English back inside the shapes it came from.
From slices to pages
Sites cut a webtoon into slices of a fixed height that fall anywhere, often through a panel. The webtoon translator joins them back into one strip first, then cuts the strip where the story breaks: the 16 slices of this chapter became 42 pages, none of them cutting a balloon.

How to translate a webtoon
Three steps with the webtoon translator, from saved images to a chapter you can read.
- 01
Drop the chapter's images
The images you saved of one chapter, in order: a single tall image or the slices a site cut it into, as a folder, a ZIP or CBZ, or the files themselves. A cover or a notice of another width is shown first, to remove in one click.
- 02
Check the pages and the price
The webtoon translator joins the images into one strip and cuts it at the blank space between panels into pages about three times as tall as they are wide, so no balloon is split. You see the pages and the price, 1 credit a page, before anything runs.
- 03
Read, then export
The webtoon translator sends pages back as they are done, read top to bottom. Export the chapter as one long image, as the slices it came in, or as CBZ, PDF or images.
Why use Serifu as your webtoon translator
A whole chapter at once
Not panel by panel and not one screenshot at a time: the webtoon translator takes every image of a chapter, in order, in one go, and you read the result top to bottom as it comes.
Cut where the panels are
The webtoon translator cuts the strip in the gaps between panels, never through a balloon; a strip drawn with no gaps is cut where the art is lightest, clear of any text.
Back the way it came
The webtoon translator puts the translation back into the shape you read it in: one tall image to scroll, or the same slices with the same names and sizes.
Lettered, not pasted
Each translation is set inside its own balloon or caption box, sized to fit, with sound effects translated too. The original lettering is cleaned out of balloons and plain backgrounds, so the webtoon translator leaves no Korean showing behind the English.
Nothing to install
The webtoon translator runs in your browser on a computer: no extension on other sites, no app to set up, and your chapters are kept in this browser until you remove them.
Webtoon translator pricing
The webtoon translator costs 1 credit a page; a chapter of 16 slices came to 42 pages, 42 credits. Credit packs never expire, and 5 pages are free when you sign up. A page with more text than 1 credit covers is set aside and its price asked first.
Edit the translation in the Serifu app
The app (macOS, Windows) takes webtoons the same way as the webtoon translator here, and adds what the browser does not: change the font and size of any line, retouch text drawn on the art, keep a glossary of names across chapters, export layered PSD.
Webtoon translator FAQ
Can the webtoon translator work on the WEBTOON site or app?
No. The webtoon translator works on the images you have: save the chapter's images, then drop them here. It reads no links and adds nothing to other sites.
What can I use now that WEBTOON's fan translation is closed?
For reading a chapter you have the images of in your own language, this webtoon translator: drop the chapter, read it translated, keep the export.
Which languages does the webtoon translator read?
Korean, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Japanese and English, into English, Chinese or Korean.
Does the webtoon translator take manhwa that comes as pages?
Yes: choose Pages instead of Webtoon, and each image is a page.
What happens to my images in the webtoon translator?
They stay in this browser. Each page is sent to be read and translated and comes back; nothing is kept on serifu.net.
Does the webtoon translator translate sound effects?
Yes. Sound effects drawn in balloons or on plain backgrounds are cleaned and lettered in English like any line; ones drawn into the art are translated over it, and the Serifu app can retouch them.
Can I translate a whole series?
One chapter at a time: each chapter you drop is kept in this browser as its own volume, with its pages and its translation, until you remove it.
Why is a chapter more pages than images?
A page is about three times as tall as it is wide, cut where the panels break, so a long strip makes several pages. The webtoon translator shows the pages and their price before anything runs.
Is translating webtoons legal?
Translating a chapter for your own reading is generally treated as personal use; sharing a translation of someone else's work needs its rights holder's permission.
